The Brief:

The client was a 40 year-old senior manager with a successful career in marketing and a strong reputation within their organisation. They were unhappy in their current job and wanted to set up their own consultancy business, but they had bills to pay and a family to support.

The Intervention:

There were two main focal points for the coaching programme:

  • Building a vision and a plan for the business. This included practical steps such as setting target earnings to meet day-to-day needs and a prospective client list.
  • Building the self-confidence and belief to make the change. This was done using spare time to develop a ‘pilot’ to prove the concept of the business idea. In helping create the desired outcome before the client had left the security of employment, the resignation letter became just a simple step in the business plan.

The Outcomes:

The client resigned from their organisation and now works as an independent consultant. They have identified some partners to work with and have established a solid customer base. Their earnings in the first year were more than sufficient to meet their regular outgoings and they now have greater flexibility and more time to spend with their family.
