The Brief:

The client was a Chief Executive in their late 40s. They had a strong reputation in their industry, but long hours and time away from home left them feeling unhappy in their job. They wanted to be able to spend more time with their family, in particular their young children.

The Intervention:

In exploring the client’s vision for the future, an underlying belief emerged; to have a better balance of work and family, a new role in a new organisation was needed. In reality, this would mean even less time with the family as adapting to the new role and establishing a reputation takes time and energy. We explored what stopped the client from going home and identified ways to redress the balance. The client was then also able to develop a plan to set up their own business in the future.

The Outcomes:

The client has made a positive choice to stay in their current role and is now enjoying it. They leave the office at 5pm on two nights each week to take part in after-school activities with their children and work from home one day a week. The client has also decided to set up their own business in the future and has identified the key steps that need to be taken.
