Frequently Asked Questions
How could coaching help me?
Probably the most important thing that coaching offers is time and space. We rarely take time out to focus completely on ourselves. A coach will not give you the answers or make it all better. However, they will help to find your own answers and direction. In the same way that a personal trainer can help you prepare for running a marathon, in the end it is down to you to cross the finish line.
How many sessions will I need?
A typical programme would be made up of around six 2-hour sessions. Coaching sessions generally take place every 4-6 weeks.
Why do you only seem to offer programmes of coaching?
We believe that coaching relationships need a beginning, middle and end. Establishing the boundaries through a programme approach creates the energy and focus that are essential for sustainable change to take place.
Are you professionally recognised as a Coach and Mentor?
Yes. Geoff has completed a three-year Masters Degree in Coaching and Mentoring Practice with Oxford Brookes University. He is also accredited by the IHD, having successfully completed their year-long ‘Prometheus’ programme. All our associates are trained and accredited with relevant real-world business experience and meet our standards of excellence.
What preparation do I need to do?
We encourage all prospective clients to take a little time to reflect on what they really want from a coaching relationship. Typical questions include:
- How will you know that the coaching has been successful and worthwhile?
- What are the key changes that you want to see as a result of the coaching process?
- What might get in the way of achieving your desired outcomes?
- Is there anything in particular that you want from your coach?
What are the next steps?
Let us buy you a cup of coffee, chat about your aspirations, answer your questions and get to know you a little. Likewise, this gives you the opportunity to meet us and see if we are right for you. There is no charge or obligation following the consultation.
When would I be required to commit to the programme of coaching?
Following the consultation, if you are interested in moving forward, we will arrange the first session. This is an opportunity to experience the coaching for yourself and find out if coaching with us is for you. At the end of the first session you will be asked whether you wish to move ahead with the rest of the programme. If you decide to proceed, you will be invoiced and committed to the programme. If you decide not to move ahead, we will wish you well and there will be nothing to pay.
Where does ‘Pinstripes & Beads’ come from?
A question we get asked a great deal... and one that we would be only too happy to answer over a cup of coffee!
